Membership in the Metro Omaha Medical Society is open to physicians who have graduated from medical school or a school of osteopathy and have served a residency within the United States.  The American Medical Association's Principles of Medical Ethics also apply at the Metro Omaha Medical Society. Why Should Physicians Join? Physicians gain strength from unity. We are an active medical society that has been in existence since 1866. By joining your local medical society you may take advantage of the many benefits and services that help physicians, their patients and the people in our community. The Society is involved in all of the following activities; Communication Bulletin (published quarterly); Newsletter (published quarterly); Legislative Faxes, keeping you informed of current Bills that are of concern to you and your patients; Physician Pictorial Directory (published yearly); Medical Legal Guide; Health Topics TV Program; Education Seminars; Workshops; Service to the Community; Domestic Violence Coordinating Council; Hope Medical Outreach Coalition; Maternal Child Health Care Clinics; MOTAC Programs; Access Medicaid; Community Internship; Credentialing; Mentoring.  Please click on individual topics for a complete description of each one.  We also have a Women in Medicine Group consisting of women physicians in the Omaha area and a Young Physicians Group consisting of physicians 40 years of age and under. One of the special things that we do each year is a program called the Medical MESS Club which is a spoof on health care in Omaha written and performed by physicians. Last year, 400 people attended and it is a program you shouldn't t miss. If you sing or dance we would love to have you perform in the show. It's a fun project enjoyed by everyone. Society participation provides professional networking and development. You need to be a part of an organization that puts your professional interests before all else. Stand up for patients.
