History
The MOMS Foundation was formed in 1981, the year Dr. Charles Bressman was President of MOMS.

The Foundation was not funded until the death of Dr. Bressman in 1994, when it was funded for approximately $5,000, which was a gift from the Bressman Family.

Since 1994, there has been a place on the MOMS dues statement where members can contribute to the Foundation along with their dues payment. By 200,1 the funds grew to approximately $35,000.

In 2002, the Omaha Mid-West Clinical Society was dissolved and their funds were transferred to the MOMS Foundation. The funds given to the Foundation was approximately $300,000.

When then Foundation President, Dr. Richard Meissner, died in 2003, he left the Foundation $100,000.  The Foundation also received approximately $2,000 in donations in memory of Dr. Meissner.

Beginning in 2002, the Foundation has been awarding grants to various organizations. The organizations must apply for the grant and we have a committee that screens each application and decides who will be awarded a grant. Grant evaluations are required and are submitted to the Foundation Board of Directors.

In the past, MOMS Foundation also had a close relationship with Hope Medical Outreach Coalition.  Each year an appeal letter is sent to our members asking them to support Hope. In addition to the donations received from our members, the Foundation matches up to $5,000 of the contributions. We now have a close relationship with the New Hope Mental Health Recovery Center.

You might want to think about remembering the MOMS Foundation in your will or designate that memorials be sent to the MOMS Foundation.
