Each year the MOMS Foundation selects a single non-profit organization or program to receive this grant. The Metro Omaha Medical Society Foundation matches up to the first $5,000.00 in donations to the Match Program.
The Latino Center of the Midlands is this year’s recipient of the MOMS Foundation Match Grant. The donation deadline is Friday, January 21, 2022. Funds will be presented to the Latino Center at the MOMS Annual Meeting.
ABOUT LATINO CENTER:
The Latino Center of the Midlands runs a program called Siembra Salud which is a home-based gardening and nutrition education program. Community health workers teach families how to build, grow, and maintain their own garden for sustainability and access to healthy foods. The home visits teach families how to shop on a budget, read and understand food labels and portion sizes, and how to prepare healthy meals. Most participants are first-time gardeners, and the majority of families fall under 100 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED:
Donations will be used to fund tools, seeds, and soil testing equipment as well as supplies for cloth-raised beds.
