Each year the MOMS Foundation selects a single non-profit organization or program to receive this grant. The Metro Omaha Medical Society Foundation matches up to the first $5,000 in donations to the Match Program.
Youth Emergency Services is this year’s recipient of the MOMS Foundation Match Grant. The donation deadline is Friday, January 24, 2025. Funds will be presented to Youth Emergency Services at the MOMS Annual Meeting on January 29.
ABOUT YOUTH EMERGENCY SERVICES:
Youth Emergency Services provides housing and support to youth experiencing instability, crisis, and homelessness. YES serves about 447 young people each year and exists specifically to help youth and young adults break the cycle of homelessness by creating goals, establishing stability, addressing mental health needs, and achieving self-sufficiency. Many of the individuals served have experienced physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse making it unsafe for them to return home. The longer youth and young adults experience homelessness, the more vulnerable they become to exploitation, trauma, health complications, and addiction. YES is dedicated to supporting youth mental health through a recently established program. With generous donations to fund this program, YES can promote mental well-being and prevent the cycle of chronic homelessness among the vulnerable youth served.
HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED:
- Five mental health sessions per youth – including diagnostic assessment and up to four individual or family therapy sessions
- Comprehensive screening with purchase of Ages and Stages for developmental milestones and the Beck Depression Inventory assessments
- Youth Mental Health First Aid training to equip YES staff with the skills to support our youth effectively
