She will speak about her work conducting laboratory analyses and leading scientific recovery operations in the search, recovery, and identification of Missing-in-Action (MIA) personnel from past U.S. conflicts
Dr. Van Deest began work as a Forensic Anthropologist at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in 2015. She conducts laboratory analyses and leads scientific recovery operations in the search, recovery, and identification of missing personnel from past U.S. conflicts. Traci earned her MA at California State University, Chico in 2007 and her PhD at the University of Florida in 2014. After completion of her doctorate, Dr. Van Deest served as the Forensic Anthropology Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner in Arizona. Dr. Van Deest is an active member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and recently earned Diplomate status with the American Board of Forensic Anthropology.
