Each year the MOMS Foundation selects a single non-profit organization or program to receive this grant. The Metro Omaha Medical Society Foundation matches up to the first $5,000 in donations to the Match Program.
Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue is this year’s recipient of the MOMS Foundation Match Grant. The donation deadline is Friday, January 19, 2024. Funds will be presented to Saving Grace at the MOMS Annual Meeting on January 23.
ABOUT SAVING GRACE:
As Omaha’s only dedicated perishable food rescue service, Saving Grace provides food to people in need by connecting excess perishable food donated by local food vendors to organizations that serve people experiencing food insecurity. They make a difference by creating greater equity in our food system by providing more people access to fresh, nutritious food while also reducing the amount of wasted food in our landfills.
HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED:
Your donations will be used to fund at least 4 community fridges in areas that don’t have access to fresh foods and where residents experience high rates of poverty. The first one will be installed in Walnut Hill where an outdoor shelter will be built to accommodate a fridge as well dry goods pantry that Saving Grace will help stock. Other sites will follow as this program grows city-wide.
